Eagles - Kindergarten Program

Enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year has begun.

Our kindergarten program will start on August 4th.   The targeted maximum class size for the 2025-26 school year is 15 children.    Our program size will only be extended if more than 15 children enroll from our existing families.    Currently, we have 15 children committed for the program, so outside enrollment is on a waitlist basis only.

Depending on application timing, all families can enroll in our kindergarten program with no out of pocket charges by utilizing the ESA program or DES Childcare Assistance.

Please contact the center to schedule a tour and individualized enrollment meeting.    You can reach us at 623-878-1539.

ESA funding accepted for payment

Mind and Body kids has been approved as a vendor by the AZ Department of Education for the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program.   Under this program, families can receive public funding for private school education.   Families utilizing this program can enroll their child in our program with no out of pocket cost (kindergarten only).    For more information about the ESA program, visit the Dept. of Education website at  Empowerment Scholarship Account | Arizona Department of Education (azed.gov)

What is Eagles

Eagles is an innovative program of Mind and Body Kids that is designed to be an alternative to  public school kindergarten as a way to prepare children for 1st Grade.  (Note:  In the state of Arizona, kindergarten is not required).  This program is classroom-based, low ratio (targeted to 15 children) and guided by a Masters degree educated, certified teacher with over 40 years of teaching experience.

Why did Mind and Body Kids develop Eagles?

Many of our parents have raised concerns about the class sizes and structures in public-school kindergarten.  In response, we designed a kindergarten program that gives your child the best opportunity for early success.    This includes lower ratios, more one-on-one instruction, and a curriculum that is based on what works not administrative dictate.

Why should I choose Eagles for my child?

  1. Low ratio classroom with a target of 15 students enrolled.
  2. Because of the low ratio, children receive significant one-on-one attention helping struggling students succeed and advanced children excel.
  3. Curriculum and class structure based on best practices and not administrative dictate.
  4. Taught by a highly experienced, certified teacher with over 40 years of teaching experience.
  5. Students receive a full lunch period and 2 full recess periods every day.
  6. Extended care available from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm at a minimal cost.
  7. Our program does not have the early release days that many school districts have implemented.   Also, our program has 6 more learning days than the public schools.
  8. Many of our graduates are reading on advanced reading levels and are proficient in 1st grade math at the end of the school year.
  9. Children with birthdays up to 2 months after public school deadlines are eligible to enroll in our program.
  10. DES Childcare Subsidies are accepted and, in most cases, pay the tuition in full.
  11. Our program has a track record of success with multiple children graduating reading on a third-grade level or higher.   Last year's entire class graduated doing first grade math independently.

How long is the school year and how much does Eagles cost?

For the 2025-26 school year, our kindergarten level program will begin on Monday, August 4, 2025, and run through Friday, May 22, 2026.  Program cost depends on your need for extended care.   We also accept DES childcare assistance which pays the tuition in full and covers the cost of aftercare.   For those looking to pay with ESA funding, please contact the center to discuss payment structure and options.

In addition to tuition, there is a $150 enrollment/materials fee for the school year.   This must be paid to lock in your child's spot for the 2025-26 school year.

Program Prerequisites

Children born prior to September 1, 2020, are eligible to enroll in Eagles.   On an exception basis, children born between September 2nd and October 31st may enroll with approval of the Program Director.

Additionally, it is preferred that children enrolled have attended a Pre-K program (preferably at Mind and Body Kids).   Children with no preschool experience may be evaluated prior to acceptance.

Enrollment

Enrollment for this program is targeted to 15 children.   Enrollment packages (enrollment forms, curriculum summary, daily schedule) are available for prospective families after a scheduled tour or enrollment meeting only.   Existing Mind and Body Kids families can pick up a packet in the office starting January 29th.

Enrollment for Eagles will be prioritized as follows:

  • Graduates of Mind and Body Kids Pre-K program
  • All others on a first-come/first-served basis (limited space expected)

Mid-year enrollment will only be done on an exception basis with the approval of the Program Director.

Ms. Zammit has been teaching for over 40 years including over 25 years of teaching kindergarten.   She has a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum Development from Grand Canyon University. Additionally, Mrs. Zammit has a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.   The upcoming class will mark her 6th year at Mind and Body Kids.

Parent Review

Our son is able to attend full day Eagles, Monday thru Friday. The curriculum his teacher has developed is challenging and keeps our son engaged.  Besides the basic ABC’s and 123’s he is learning to read on a 1st grade level, learning addition and subtraction, after only 4 months. We are thankful for the opportunities our son is receiving at Mind and Body Kids. He looks forward to going to school every day.

Amy and Lance C.
